Days 97 & 98 on the AT – Two Zeros To Celebrate!

Days 97 & 98

Harper’s Ferry, VA

~ Double Zero ~

To celebrate making it (almost) halfway, Janitor and I took a double zero in Harper’s Ferry. Plus, a sad event was on the horizon. Janitor would leave me for good once I got back on trail. Instead of supporting me from town, he would be supporting me from home. I wanted to make the most of our time together before our upcoming 3 month separation, so taking two zeros was the perfect way to do that.

Our first zero was all about rest and relaxation. I slept in and only worked on a few blog posts. We also took a drive to Northern VA to visit some friends of mine and meet their new baby. We got home pretty late (for us) that evening, so we went straight to sleep when we got back.

The next day, we actually left our lodgings to go explore Harper’s Ferry and all of the history it holds. We had lunch at a burger spot, learned about the preparation for Lewis and Clark’s journey, and had tasty goodies at a cafe. Two hours out on the town was more than enough for us!

When we arrived back at our lodging, we had the task of getting things ready for Janitor to go home. It took us a little while, but we got things organized to either mail back home or send along with Janitor.

I got new shoes for my new solo journey as well. I’ll be very sad to say goodbye to Janitor tomorrow, but the hike must go on!

And that’s days 97 & 98.
